The City is colluding with developers to privatize and demolish low income housing to build luxury towers. The Fulton & Elliott-Chelsea NYCHA houses, the last low income housing in Hudson Yards, is slated for demolition by big developer Related, who hopes to build luxury apartments in its place. Tenants demanding repairs were coerced and harassed by housing officials and the developer into leaving their homes.
Self-proclaimed socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani is supporting the demolition of public housing and the displacement of the community. NYCHA tenants and the wider community have united to demand that Mayor Mamdani stop the demolition and preserve low income housing in Chelsea.
